Reviewer Appreciation Program

Reviewers are the cornerstone of academic publishing, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and quality of scientific research. While authors receive recognition for their publications, the critical role of reviewers often remains unseen.

To express our gratitude and honor the dedication of our reviewers, the Research on Engineering Structures and Materials (RESM) journal has launched the Reviewer Appreciation Program. This initiative recognizes and rewards increasing contributions, providing formal acknowledgment for the valuable time and expertise reviewers dedicate to the peer-review process.

The Reviewer Appreciation Program is our way of saying thank you for the dedication and expertise of our reviewers. Your efforts strengthen the foundation of scientific publishing and ensure the highest standards of research integrity. Let your contributions be recognized!

How It Works

At the beginning of each month, we assess the review activity from the previous month, determine the reviewers who have reached new milestones and grant certificates to them. Points are collected throughout the calendar year, resetting at the start of each new year.

Earning Review Points

  • First evaluation of a new submission: 2 points
  • Subsequent evaluations of revised submissions: 1 point per round

Reviewer Ranking System

As reviewers evaluate more articles, they progress through five levels of recognition. Each level grants a new certificate, signifying their increasing impact on the academic community.

  • Reviewer: 2 points
  • Senior Reviewer: 6 points
  • Expert Reviewer: 9 points
  • Elite Reviewer: 15 points
  • Master Reviewer: 21 points

Each reviewer receives a new rank and certificate at every level, reflecting their growing contribution. The higher the rank, the greater the recognition of their dedication.

How to Achieve Higher Ranks

Every review brings you closer to the next level of recognition!

  • Start as a Reviewer by completing at least one manuscript review.
  • Continue reviewing new submissions and revisions to accumulate points.
  • As your contributions grow, you will receive additional certificates for each higher rank you achieve.
  • Reaching Master Reviewer status marks you as one of the most dedicated and valued contributors in our journal’s peer-review community.

Your effort makes a real impact, ensuring the integrity of published research while building a recognized track record of excellence in peer review.

Distinguished Reviewer List

To further recognize our reviewers, RESM maintains a Distinguished Reviewer List, updated monthly on the journal website. This list highlights reviewers with the highest accumulated points in the current year, acknowledging those who have made the most significant contributions.

Annual Reviewer Awards

In addition to the ranking system, RESM presents two special Reviewer Awards each year:

  • Excellence in Review Award – Recognizing high-quality, insightful, and timely reviews.
  • Outstanding Reviewer Award – Given to reviewers who have completed the highest number of reviews in a given period.

Award winners are announced on the journal website and their contributions are recognized for at least five years.

Reviewer Discount for Open Access Charge (OAC)

As an additional token of appreciation, reviewers receive a 5% discount on the Open Access Charge (OAC) for each manuscript they review. These discounts are cumulative and can be applied to reduce the OAC for their own submissions to the journal.

Reviewers may collect multiple discounts over time and use them toward a future submission. Full details on how to apply the discount can be found on Reviewer Discount page.
