Reviewer awards
Recognizing the contributions of reviewers
Peer review is the cornerstone of academic publishing, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and validity of scientific research. While authors are justly celebrated for their discoveries, the critical contributions of reviewers often remain behind the scenes. At Research on Engineering Structures and Materials (RESM), we believe that the dedication of our reviewers deserves visible and formal recognition.
As part of our broader Reviewer Appreciation Program, we are proud to honor those who have gone above and beyond in their service to the scientific community. Each year, the Editorial Committee selects recipients for two prestigious awards to celebrate excellence and dedication in peer review.
Excellence in Review Award
The Excellence in Review Award is granted to reviewers who provide reports of exceptional quality. This award focuses on the substance of the contribution rather than the quantity.
Criteria: Selection is based primarily on the scientific quality, thoroughness, and constructiveness of the review report. Timeliness is also a key factor.
Selection Process: Given the diverse branches of science covered by our journal, comparing reports across different disciplines can be challenging. To ensure fairness, the Editorial Board selects multiple recipients annually without prioritization.
Objective: This award honors reviewers whose insights significantly improve the quality of the submitted manuscripts and help authors refine their work to the highest standards.
Outstanding Reviewer Award
The Outstanding Reviewer Award recognizes the dedication and consistent support of our most active reviewers. This award honors those who have generously invested their time to evaluate a high volume of manuscripts with high quality reports within a calendar year.
Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the highest number of review points earned within the year.
Selection Process: The journal tracks reviewer activity throughout the year, visible monthly on our Distinguished Reviewer List. The number of the submitted reports are multiplied by the assigned quality factor by the journal staff and total review points are determined. The journal honors the top contributors at the end of the annual cycle.
Objective: This award celebrates the highest contributors of our community who play a pivotal role in maintaining the journal’s efficient publication schedule.
Recognition and Rewards
Winners of both awards receive an official certificate acknowledging their achievement. Furthermore, to provide lasting visibility within the academic community, their names and affiliations are highlighted on the journal’s website for a minimum of five years.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all our reviewers for their voluntary and invaluable service. Below are the award winners who have set the standard for highest contribution in recent years.
