Research on Engineering Structures and Materials (RESM) announces an upcoming Special Focus Issue dedicated to sustainable construction materials and their critical role in enhancing the durability, performance, and resilience of modern engineering structures.
The construction sector continues to grapple with carbon emissions, intensive resource consumption, construction and demolition waste, and the progressive deterioration of aging infrastructure. Addressing these challenges requires materials that not only mitigate environmental impacts but also satisfy strict requirements for safety, service life, and structural resilience.
This Special Focus Issue provides an international platform for bridging material-level innovations with structural engineering applications. Particular emphasis is placed on establishing connections between material composition, mechanical behavior, damage evolution, long-term durability, and structural performance under extreme or service loading conditions. Both experimental investigations and advanced numerical or data-driven studies are welcome.
